Calling all volunteers!
Share Food Program is gearing up for the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and you’re invited to help us honor Dr. King’s legacy through collaboration and nourishment. Your support in our fight for food justice is needed more than ever as we work to feed our region’s most vulnerable populations.
We invite community members ages 13 and up to volunteer at Share Food Program during next year’s MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 15.
There are various opportunities to lend a hand both in and outside of Share’s Philadelphia warehouse on this day. We highly encourage all volunteer groups and individuals to register for their desired opportunity ASAP!
MLK Day of Service volunteers can help with:
- Warehouse Packing: Prepare boxes for packing, assembly line packing, and weighing and stacking boxes
- Special Administrative Projects: Recording program attendance and stuffing envelopes with seed packets and a small note, sealing the envelopes, and posting them for delivery.
- Landscaping: Raking and collecting leaves
- Virtual Calling: Making phone calls to confirm when home deliveries are being made with participants
- Share Food Pantry Support: Painting, bagging/distributing food, cleaning, and organizing

***We expect all volunteer shifts to fill up very quickly and recommend signing up right away! Don’t fret if you can’t join in this time—there are volunteer opportunities all year long that help make a huge difference.
